CORE BELIEFS OF THE CHRISTIAN CHURCH (DISCIPLES OF CHRIST)
Disciples of Christ have no creed but Christ and no doctrine except those found in the Holy Bible.
Confession of Jesus Christ as Lord - The Lordship of Jesus Christ stands at the center of the Disciples' understanding of the Christian faith.
The Church as the Community of God's Love - The church is a covenant community, brought into being by God and sustained in its life by the Holy Spirit.
Communion - Celebrated weekly in worship. It is open to all believers.
Baptism - In baptism, the old self-centered life is set aside, and a new life of trust in God is made possible.
Diversity of Opinion - Each person is free to determine individual belief guided by the Bible, the Holy Spirit, study, and prayer. Open discussion of issues is encouraged and a variety of opinions is welcome. We each affirm that Jesus is the Christ and we affirm Him as our Lord and Savior.
The Ministry of All Believers - The clergy and the congregation share the ministry together, as a witness to the wider church.
Freedom of Belief - Disciples are called together around one essential faith, belief in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
